9 Famous Movie Vilains Who Were Right All Along

by Cezary Jan Strusiewicz, January 12, 2011, Cracked.com

The Wicked Witch of the West wasn’t set out to kill Dorothy. She wanted her sister’s slippers, which were being worn by her sister’s killer.

The security chief in Short Circuit was in the right by trying to recapture a malfunctioning piece of machinery with a laser canon which gained sentience but had no understanding of the value of life or death.

And in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, it’s the principal’s job to see to it that kids go to school and not take unapproved days off.

Check out Cezary Jan Strusiewicz ’s“villain”s eye” summary of 9 famous movies:

Star Trek Retro Art Prints by Juan Ortiz

Artist Juan Ortiz has created 80 movie-style posters, one for each and every episode (including the first pilot) of Star Trek: The Original Series.

The images feature retro-style art that recalls 1960’s-era posters, pulp novel covers, comic books and advertisements, and will be introduced at a rate of four a month, on the first of each month, over the next 20 months – and not in chronological order.

This Isn’t the Petition Response You’re Looking For

The White House will not be building a Death Star, and respond with a sense of humor.

Reported by Lauren Davis, io9 (Jan. 11, 2013) — Once the official White House petition to secure resources and funding to begin construction on a Death Star passed 25,000 signatures, it rated a response from the White House. First, the bad news: we're not getting a Death Star. There is, however, a bit of good news: the person assigned to responding to the petition has both a firm love of science and a geeky sense of humor.

The Administration shares your desire for job creation and a strong national defense, but a Death Star isn't on the horizon. Here are a few reasons:
• The construction of the Death Star has been estimated to cost more than $850,000,000,000,000,000. We're working hard to reduce the deficit, not expand it.
•The Administration does not support blowing up planets.
•Why would we spend countless taxpayer dollars on a Death Star with a fundamental flaw that can be exploited by a one-man starship?
— excerpt from the respons from Paul Shawcross, Chief of the Science and Space Branch at the White House Office of Management and Budget.
